What is a Donor Advised Fund?

Donor advised funds (DAFs) are one of the fastest growing charitable vehicles in the United States. Housed at a 501(c)(3) organization, a DAF is a fund or account created by individuals, corporations, or private foundations to manage their charitable giving.

Benefits of a Donor Advised Fund

  • Deduct taxes first, decide grantmaking later — One of the key benefits of a donor advised fund is the ability to receive tax deductions before you recommend who can receive the funding.
  • A spectrum of options for social impact — from grantmaking, international grantmaking, impact investing, and funding 501c4 charitable activities, Tides’ robust compliance process ensures your gifts maximize their reach.
  • A multitude of funding sources — contributions to your fund can include gifts of appreciated stock, real estate property, among several other assets.

Together with our partners, we advance social justice by shifting resources and power to historically excluded communities.

Our Priorities

At Tides, you'll join a community of partners addressing the most urgent social justice issues of our time.

Reproductive Justice

Everyone deserves to choose if, when, and how to parent.

We partner with reproductive justice organizations fighting for whole systems of access, policies, and community services that reflect everyone’s needs, and recognize how reproductive rights and health intersect with many other social issues and movements.

Healthy Democracy
