ArtSeed is a unique and innovative arts education program. Our inter-generational and multi-disciplinary projects put students from diverse backgrounds in touch with artists and other professionals in a variety of fields. Working side-by-side in experimental and classical apprenticeships that include non-western styles of art, participants share hands-on artmaking, exhibition and field trip adventures.

Youngsters with learning differences, financial obstacles, and/or discipline problems learn practical skills and professional habits that give form to their own unique, creative gifts. We hope in the process to encourage new inter-cultural friendships between people of all ages and from all walks of life. We do this by producing tangible and meaningful arts experiences that have a sustained impact on lives. Young people are tightly integrated into the day-to-day life of the organization, doing everything from curating shows to acting as docents, securing equipment, and meeting on boards of trustees. Students prepare their own designs, distribute publicity for, and document culminating exhibitions of their individual portfolios or larger collaborative pieces. Festive receptions give pen-pals from various classes, workshops, and private mentorships new opportunities to interact. Young artists and interns get to teach, often for the first time. Students take supplies home to continue artmaking. ArtSeed supports on-going mutual learning relationships between artists, students, and mentors from various fields.

The mission of the Association of Progressive Communication is to challenge discrimination, structural inequality, and power structures by working to decolonise the internet and digital technologies and spaces to create a more just and sustainable world. We do this by harnessing the collective power of activists, organisations, excluded groups, communities and social movements; embodying a feminist and rights-based approach in shaping and co-creating digital technology and spaces; and ensuring that the internet is governed as a global public resource.

The Bay Area Creative Foundation was established to celebrate the importance of creativity in all our lives. We seek to encourage and support young artists by providing awards programs that promote and honor their creativity.

The Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative (BARHII) is a coalition of the San Francisco Bay Area’s eleven public health departments committed to advancing health equity.

Our mission is to empower children with serious illnesses to express themselves through the power of filmmaking.

Children with serious medical conditions face overwhelming challenges—scary and painful medical treatments, isolation from friends and family, and the emotional toll of uncertain futures. Filmmaking gives children a way to leave behind the medical world and just be kids again. Instead of children with illnesses, they become kids with cameras and stories to tell. They become directors, writers, animators, and actors. Instead of patients with little control over their situation, they become confident filmmakers who can create anything their imaginations dream up.
Through our programs, sick children rediscover their active, creative selves. They learn new skills. They have fun and connect with others. And as they discover new ways of expressing themselves, they deepen their sense of who they are. Their self esteem goes up. And most importantly, they gain a sense of purpose and hope, which helps them cope with their illnesses and believe in the possibilities of the future.

Since 2000, BayKids has been turning young patients into proud filmmakers. We have helped over 6,500 children experience the joy of creative expression through filmmaking.

Better Care Network (BCN) is an international network of organizations committed to supporting children without adequate family care around the world. BCN works by fostering collaboration, research and information sharing on family strengthening and alternative care, and advocating for changes to national, regional, and global policies to improve children’s care situations.

The mission of the BCN is to facilitate active information exchange and collaboration on the issue of children without adequate family care and advocate for technically sound policy and programmatic action on global, regional, and national levels in order to:

– Reduce instances of separation and abandonment of children;
– Reunite children outside family care with their families, wherever possible and appropriate;
– Increase, strengthen, and support family and community-based care options for children;
– Establish international and national standards for all forms of care for children without adequate family care and mechanisms for ensuring compliance; and
– Ensure that residential institutions are used in a very limited manner and only when appropriate.

We believe better food policy comes from inclusive and equitable civic engagement. When food policy councils embrace complexity, engage diverse perspectives, and collaborate across boundaries, enduring food policy solutions emerge. In the spirit of abundance, this fund provides innovative support for food policy councils working with and through both community members and local government to push food policy forward.

The Big Picture Program is a Tides Center project aimed at art mentorship with at-risk youth, particularly those who use graffiti as their outlet. As professional artists, we recognize and encourage natural-born talent in the completion of public art projects, encouraging participants to hold a higher vibration and make art without victims.
