Catalyst Project is a center for political education and movement building based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are committed to anti-racist work in majority white sections of left social movements with the goal of deepening anti-racist commitment in white communities and building multiracial left movements for liberation. We are committed to creating spaces for activists and organizers to collectively develop relevant theory, vision and strategy to build our movements. Catalyst programs prioritize leadership development, supporting grassroots fighting organizations and multiracial alliance building.

Catalyst Project is a collectively run, democratic organization that prioritizes empowered leadership and accountability in our internal culture and practice. We blend structures from non-profit staff organizations and volunteer based activist collectives. We strive to incorporate our left, democractic, feminist and anti-authoritarian principles into our organizational model and our organizing practice.

Catalyst is a hybrid of paid and unpaid staff. We are working to increase our organizational capacity and budget. Currently, our annual budget is under $200,000. Our work is funded entirely through financial support from the communities that we work in and through fee for service workshops and organizational support. Catalyst Project is rooted in the organizing work of our networks and we develop our programs in dialogue with our advisors and our allies. We are committed to building the left, developing anti-racist practice in white communities and strengthening grassroots social movements.

The Marine Education Project’s mission is to preserve and restore the biodiversity and health of California’s coastal and marine ecosystems through scientifically supported community involvement, education, and action.

The Center for Genetics and Society seeks to alert and engage the public, the media, leadership of civil society organizations, and policymakers about the risks to social justice and the public interest posed by particular applications of human genetic and assisted reproductive technologies. It works to establish effective and accountable public policies for these human biotechnologies. The Center focuses on technical developments and public controversy regarding the prospect of engineering the genes and traits that are passed on to future children and generations.

Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) creates policy and market solutions to advance sustainable energy.

CRS is a national nonprofit with global impact. It develops expert responses to climate change issues with the speed and effectiveness necessary to provide real-time solutions. Its leadership through collaboration and environmental innovation builds policies and consumer-protection mechanisms in renewable energy, greenhouse gas reductions, and energy efficiency that foster healthy and sustained growth in national and international markets.

Children’s Action Network (CAN) uses the power of the entertainment community to increase awareness about children’s issues and to make them a top priority in everyday life.

CAN is currently dedicated to finding homes for the more than 100,000 children in the United States who are waiting for an adoptive family and improving outcomes for the more than 400,000 children in foster care.

Launched in 2011, Cities United is a national movement focused on eliminating the violence in American cities related to African American men and boys. The 130 mayors (and counting) participating in Cities United intend to reduce homicides in their cities by 50%, by the year 2025. Moreover, they are committed to restoring hope to their communities and building pathways to justice, employment, education, and increased opportunities for residents. As a resource, Cities United helps mayors in communities across the country to assess their current situations, increase opportunities for awareness, action, advocacy, and accountability. The organization provides assistance with planning and implementing solutions by sharing best practices, instituting innovative approaches, and understanding how and where to reconfigure resources. The members of Cities United hold each other accountable for achieving results, calling on Federal support while asking members of the community to get involved as well.

To decarbonize at the speed and scale required to address the climate crisis, we need bold public policy to accelerate change.

Corporations play a huge role in climate policy action – or inaction. They often are too narrowly focused on reducing emissions in their own operations, and fail to use their powerful influence to advocate on climate policy.

We need a movement that raises the expectations for the corporate sector and we believe that when employees speak, companies act.

Our areas of focus are:
– Activating employees who can catalyze bold advocacy from their employers and create a tipping point for policy change.
– Educating executives by providing targeted education on key issues including use of their lobbying influence and public statements to help enact pro-climate policy.
– Shining the spotlight by harnessing external attention to put pressure on corporate leadership.
– Keeping score by tracking corporate and trade-association climate policy engagement.

ClimateVoice is led by Co-Executive Directors Deborah McNamara and Bill Weihl – the organization’s founder.
